DAY CAMPS

Camp Cranium at Fresh Air Farm, Triadelphia
Children’s Museum of the Ohio Valley
When: July 28-Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8
Age: 4-10
Cost: $25 per day or $100 per week ($95 for members)
Children will participate in arts and crafts, outdoor games, swimming, nature and interacting with other kids in a safe and fun environment. Hands-on healthy cooking for lunch and snacks will be provided by the Wheeling Junior League and its Kids in the Kitchen program.

Celebrating Youth Summer Day Camp
YWCA-Wheeling Family Violence Prevention Program

J.B. Chambers YMCA Summer Day Camp
Elm Grove, Wheeling
When: June 5-Aug. 22; 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., before and after care from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Age: Entering K-7th grade
Cost: Varies
Camp includes swimming, structured games with certified schoolteachers, basketball, arts and crafts, field trips. Lunch provided by Ohio County for six weeks. For information, call 304-242-8086. Registration packets available at the facility.

The Linsly School Day Camp
When: June 9-July 3 (three one-week sessions), 9:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Age: 5-13
This camp is open to the public and features six activities each day, including arts and crafts and swimming every day. Special weekly trips include Pittsburgh Pirates game, Carnegie Science Center, Chuck E. Cheese’s and bowling/miniature golf. Lunch provided. Oglebay Good Zoo Summer Camps and Workshops
When: June 9-Aug. 29
Age: 4-18
Cost: Varies
All new programs this year, led by the zoo’s trained education staff. Sessions are from one day to one week long and are geared to different age groups. Boxed lunch is available for purchase; before and after care is available; and some camps include swimming at Oglebay Park pool. Oglebay Institute Summer Day Camps

Some highlights and new features of summer camps 2008:
- Eight weeks of nature camp are now available for children age 4/entering kindergarten.
- Nature camps for those entering 5th-8th grades include special field trip to places such as Junior Nature Camp at Camp Giscowheco, Wetzel’s cave and more.
- Special combo camps allow children to experience art and dance at a discounted rate.
- Scholarships are available to assist families in taking advantage of these fun and educational programs.

Orchard Park Day Camp, Wheeling
When: Starts June 6 and goes until the day before Ohio County Schools start in August; 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Age: 5-12
The camp be broken down into two age groups, ages 5-8 and 9-12. There will be many themes and activities throughout the summer. Children will be able to choose from a variety of clubs ranging from science to the climbing wall. Participating children receive breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack during the day. Enrollment is limited to full-time children, and reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis until maximum enrollment is reached. SCIENCE AND MATH CAMPS

Power Robotics Weeklong Robotics Camp
Center for Educational Technologies, Wheeling Jesuit University
Age: Entering grades 5-8
Cost: $250 (includes a space mission T-shirt and all-you-can-eat lunch daily)
When: June 23-27, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In Power Robotics, campers use computers and LEGO robots to solve mission challenges involving different sources of electricity and power. They also experience reduced gravity in the Wheeling Jesuit University pool and participate in a simulated space mission at the Challenger Learning Center. “Return to the Moon” Space Explorers Day Camp

Campers will enjoy a day of nonstop excitement as they journey to the moon to explore the dusty lunar surface, launch a probe and establish a permanent lunar base. “Cosmic Kids” Space Explorers Day Camp

Age: Entering grades 1-3

Campers will explore the wonders of the universe and discover what makes each planet special and why Earth stands apart from the rest. Campers will blast off for a day filled with excitement, fun and make-and-take activities while they make new friends and enjoy the adventure of learning about space.
