This is Summer

June 5, 2018 - Stacey Sacco
If you see my family any time this summer, be expected to hear or see most of the following:

- “Get out of my house and go play. I’ll tell you when a meal is on the table.”

- “Are you starting to get tan or is that just dirt.”

- My kids legs will all look like they were in a wrestling match with a wild animal.

- All the kids will have showered in the past 48 hours, They just won’t smell like it.

- Popsicles sometimes qualify as lunch.

- I have no idea what we are doing tomorrow. Something I’m sure. Maybe the playground. Maybe the movies. Maybe putting the sprinkler in the yard. Possibly making plans and then doing nothing at all but sitting in the sun with a stack of books.

- Where are my children’s shoes? I have no idea. Hopefully we find them before we have to go somewhere that requires shoes.

- My house will be a mess. Yes, they all have chores, but that takes up about five percent of their day. The other 95% of the time they are in full mess-making mode.

- We will never have food in the house. They do nothing but eat all. day. long. A full service restaurant can’t keep up with the food whims of four school-aged children.

- We will have every intention of finishing those summer workbooks. Really, we do. But in all likelihood, we will be scrambling to finish them the two days before school starts. Sorry, teachers.

- We’ll be happy. Because there’s not much in this life better than being a kid and enjoying the carefree, fun-filled, unscheduled time of summer vacation.
