PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Public Schools police have extra officers and K-9 units patrolling Taylor Allderdice High School after 20 students were arrested for brawling.
More students could be charged in Thursday's fight, as police continue to review surveillance tapes. School district officials say 50 to 60 students were fighting and two school police officers were hurt, including one with a spinal cord injury. The officers are expected to recover.
School police say the school fight stemmed from a month-old dispute that first caused a fight at an after-school basketball game Wednesday between rival groups from two city neighborhoods.
Most of the students arrested were released to their parents, but some are at a juvenile detention center.
