It's every parent's nightmare. Your mind on your long list of errands, what you're going to make for dinner and who has practice where tonight, you jump out of the car and head into the store, accidentally leaving your 6-month-old slumbering in the back seat.
It can happen, and it has, sometimes with a tragic ending. A simple reminder may be all a frazzled parent needs to avoid an unspeakable tragedy.
Enter Emma's Inspirations, static-cling car decals created by a mom who's been there. On move-in day at their new house, Emma's parents got to work right away, unloading boxes and clothes, each think the other had the baby. Forty-five minutes later, they retrieved their darling girl, who was unscathed. Their family catch-phrase became "Where's Emma?" and, of course, they were determined never to let it happen again.
To help others avoid that kind of close call - or worse - they thought up the decals, which feature stick figures and a friendly but cautionary reminder: "Closed windows don't breathe. Check your seats before you leave."
An order includes six decals, enough to place three each on two vehicles; the cost including shipping is $9.90. They are available at www.emmasinspirations.com.
Emma's Inspirations has given OV Parent Magazine 20 packages to give away to readers. To request the decals, e-mail email@example.com or call OVP Editor Betsy Bethel at 304-233-0100, ext. 389. The first 20 families who respond will receive decals.
