MOOREFIELD, W.Va. (AP) - A Hardy County school's new dress code is being challenged by a group of parents who contend it violates students' constitutional rights. Tammy George, Richard and Rhonda Dolly, and Jeff and Madelene Vance filed a lawsuit this week in Hardy County Circuit Court seeking to block enforcement of Moorefield Middle School's new policy. They also argue that the policy's timing creates an economic hardship for families who can't afford to buy new clothes in the middle of the school year. The policy was implemented earlier this month. It requires all students to wear solid-colored shirts and pants and bans any clothing with logos larger than 1 inch. Hardy County Superintendent Barbara Whitecotton declined to comment on the lawsuit. |
