WHEELING - Registration for Ohio County Schools universal preschool for the 2010-11 school year begins Monday, Feb. 1.

Parents who wish to enroll their children in preschool should call 304-243-7644 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The following free preschool sites are open to 4-year-olds and eligible 3-year-olds who reach those ages by Aug. 31, 2010: Cradles to Crayons, Creative Hands Child Care Learning Center, Easter Seals, Holy Family Child Care Center, The Kids Club, Madison Elementary School, Ritchie Elementary School, Warwood Elementary School, Woodsdale Elementary School and the former North Park School.

"The identified universal programs utilize the state-approved curriculum, Creative Curriculum," said Ohio County Schools Student Services Director Kimberly Miller. "The universal preschools are taught by certified professionals with degrees who have an emphasis in early childhood, preschool special needs and/or elementary education. Our goal is not only to provide a quality preschool program, but also to ensure a safe and healthy environment."
